Established in 1992, Unifrutti in the Philippines is known as a producer, distributor and marketer of bananas. Tied closely together with operations in Japan, started in 1996, Unifrutti is consistently recognized as being in the top two banana brands in Japan for overall quality. More recently, in 2012 the brand was recognized as the number one brand for quality bananas in Japan. Employing roughly 8,500 people Unifrutti Philippines is one of Unifrutti's largest investments around the world with roughly 8000 hectares of planted land (34% of which are fully owned and the rest cooperatives) and primarily services the Asian markets including Japan, Korea, and the Middle East. Beyond planted land, Unifrutti avails of berthing and cold-storage facilities at the Craft Haven and Tefasco Wharfs in Davao. Unifrutti Philippines is an industry leader in corporate social responsibility and environmental management, making use of innovative soil management and conservation programs and workers welfare programs.
